Piedra Library hosted a great summer event on July 17. We made sock monkeys! It was a lot of fun and so much wonderful help from our local volunteers. Our Board members, Corkey Wakefield, Sandy Grant and Donna Weinberg, worked hard and long hours to prepare and sew the monkeys for the children. The ladies had 17 monkeys ready for kids to stuff and sew.Their parents assisted and helped the kids stuff and sew the monkeys. The children sewed the felt faces and clothing, lips and ribbons on the stuffed critters.
They had a great time learning to sew. We are hoping to make a few monkeys for the orphans in Romania. And possibly potpourri bags and beaded necklaces for the adults there too! Beverly Henson and I helped organize and supervise the event.
